There is no coating on the Ultra Smooth™ combs. The product itself has been infused with the oils (Coconut or Argan/Olive), as well as Keratin Protein. A good analogy for the infusion process is to compare the combs to a cake. There are many ingredients that going into baking a cake, however, you don't taste the egg or baking soda in the end. The same is true with the Ultra Smooth™ combs. The plastic/resin base material has been mixed with oils and Keratin Protein, this combination will last the life of the combs.
